Beyond Speculation
Steven pored through all the comments with a fine-toothed comb. Some he took seriously and considered their suggestions, while others were laughably ridiculous. One Facebook user suggested that Steven use the “magnet test” on the rock. This would establish whether the rock was in fact a meteor or not. Steven did so, but the test failed, as the rock was not magnetic. All the other bright and exciting ideas would run into dead ends too, sadly.

Steven mentioned in a later interview how, “It feels like a rock-hard rubber ball, its texture is like wax, like a candle. When you touch it, you get wax sticking to your fingers.” This was certainly strange, but to many people, it would be alarming. The sticky substance coming off the rock could be hazardous, and who knows what Steven was coming into contact with? He certainly did not seem too bothered by the alarming possibilities.
