During the fifteen-minute wait before Mary returned, Sam’s mind was brimming with wild possibilities. He was so incredibly curious about the contents of this suitcase and who placed it in his basement in the first place. When had this secret drop-off happened? Eventually, Sam could not control himself any longer. His fingers brushed against the clasps of the suitcase, flirtingly. He decided that he could not wait any longer. He slowly lifted the locks with his thumbs, cracked the suitcase open, and peeked inside.

Sam could not see inside yet, as it was too dark inside the dusty suitcase and he was hesitant to go all the way. It looked like an old-school metal lunchbox but was twice the size. It was surprisingly heavy and whatever had been stashed inside it was incredibly dense. Was this the score of some historical bank robber? Just who had occupied Sam and Mary’s home before them? The questions were overwhelming poor Sam.
