It was his intention to go there without paying for transportation. There was usually at least one automobile on this road, despite it being not very popular. The only uncertainty that remained was when exactly it would take place. He was very lucky because he only had to wait around for about 10 minutes until a car came around the curve. Jonathan thanked God for how lucky he was and then went to work.

Jonathan signaled to the passing automobile to stop, and after he had the attention of both the driver and the passenger, he used his thumb to indicate that he wanted to be picked up. A woman in her mid-40s rolled down her car window and smiled to herself. Jonathan told the lady what had happened. Since his automobile had been stolen, he was in need of transportation into the city. Would she believe anything he had said?
