Clearing The Air
Steven had gently lowered the mysterious rock within a box which he left neatly on the table in the dining room. The agents carefully approached the case, opened it, and raised it to their covered faces for closer inspection. Then began a long-winded investigation, with plenty of advanced tools and expertise. All the Whittens could do was stand around awkwardly outside, awaiting the shocking revelation. They were bound to have their minds blown by what the experts uncovered.

Steven eventually embraced his wife strongly, doing his best to comfort her as much as himself. His mind was racing through all manner of outcomes, fearful that he had unleashed some kind of disaster on himself and his wife, as well as their home. He could not be sure what kind of force he had disturbed, but given the alarming nature of the official investigation, it couldn’t be anything pleasant. His worries were reinforced by the grim expressions of the officials.
